Delarious Stewart
Delarious Stewart, is Copy Editor for Journal of African American Males in Education (JAAME). Hailed by “Ebony Magazine” as one of the Nation’s “Top 30 Leaders Under 30,” Delarious Stewart has spent more than 15 years working in the fields of K-12 education, higher education, public policy and communications as a teacher, counselor, school psychologist, lobbyist, senior administrator, communications generalist, journalist, consultant and college professor. A product of Southern University, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and a Master of Arts in Counseling. He earned a specialist degree in special education at Jackson State University and a specialist in school psychology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Currently, he is pursing a doctorate in Early Childhood Education at Jackson State University. His primary areas of research are: The impact of hip hop music on child and adolescent development; Diversity issues in psycho-therapy and education; Research-based Culturally Relevant Classroom Instructional Strategies; Autism and Developmental Disabilities in Children; social policy, and the Impact of Race and Poverty on Academic Achievement. Prior to his return home to the South in 2004, this Franklinton, Louisiana native worked on Capitol Hill as Director of Communications for the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus. Del is a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., American Psychotherapy Association, National Association of School Psychologists, American Counseling Association, American School Counselor Association, Mississippi Counseling Association, National Association for Multicultural Education, Association of Black Pychologists, Brothers of the Academy (BOTA) and the Council for Exceptional Children.
